Din 960

DIN 960 Bolts are hex headed bolts with fine and extra fine external machine screw threads which are partially threaded (the distance between fine and extra fine threads is less than coarse, wider-spaced threads). They are mated with nuts and internally threaded holes and  are similar to ISO 8765 except for some dimensional differences. Din 960 specification bolts are available at Bhalla Fasteners in Class 4.8, 8.8,10.9 and 12.9  steel. Din 960 specification bolts are zinc plated or hot dip galvanised which  inhibits the formation of rust while plain finish does not have any corrosion protection. Thread tolerance for Class 8.8 and 10.9 is 6g for plain finish and 6h for plated. Left hand threads are customised and  right-hand threads are standard. Din 960 iso standard bolts are also called hex head cap screws or din 931 bolts. In din 960 specifications the  bolt diameter and bolt length determine the minimum threaded length. The bolt's length is measured from under the head to the tip. DIN 960 Bolts are similar to ISO 8765 and JIS B1180. DIN 961 can be used  instead when fully threaded is required and DIN 931 for partially threaded coarse threads.

Din 960 vs 961 

In Din 961 is the fine thread full threaded bolts equivalent of DIN 933 (i.e. hex head cap screw with full thread) and DIN 960 is the fine thread or half threaded  equivalent of DIN 931 (i.e. hex head cap screw with partial thread)

As per ISO898 standard the metric Fasteners have been designated by class of numbers which are stamped on the head of bolt separated by a decimal for example 4.6 8.8,10.9 ,12.9

The first digit of bold great represents 1/100 part of nominal tensile strength or proof load of bolt. So 4.6 Property class means tensile strength =4x100=400 MPA.

The second digit of bolt grade represents yield strength of bolt material ex 4.6 yield strength =400x0.6 =240 MPA
