Trailer Wheel studs are the threaded fasteners that hold on the wheels of many automobiles. They are semi-permanently mounted directly to the vehicle hub, usually through the brake drum or brake disk. Lug nuts are fastened onto the wheel stud to secure the wheel.
Trailer lug bolts/Wheel studs are often constructed using forged steel blanks that are then threaded externally to receive a lug nut. This is because having directly opposed spokes causes problems with residual stress distribution as the casting cools and shrinks (this is also why cast iron hand wheels often have S shaped spokes). So 5 studs tends to be a more convenient number, if only for aesthetic reasons Studs provide the ability to obtain much more accurate torque values because the studs don't twist during tightening as do bolts. Because the studs remain stationary during nut tightening, the studs stretch in one axis alone, providing much more even and accurate clamping forces.
A wheel hub bolt/ bolt hub assembly ,also referred to as , wheel hub bolt, wheel hub bearing, etc., is an automotive part used in most cars, passenger vehicles, and light and heavy trucks.
The wheel bolt is bolted on the wheel hub assembly .This assembly is located between the brake drums or discs and the drive axle. Depending on the design and application, the end of hub may or may not have splined teeth. They fit in with the corresponding splines on the axle shaft. These axle hub spins along with the wheels bolted to it and provide the power to the wheels in order to rotate.
To make the rotation of the non-drive wheels a roller bearing is between the axle hub and axle shaft. On the axle side, it is mounted to the holding bracket from the chassis; on the disc side, the wheel is mounted to the bolts of the wheel bolt assembly.
Hub Bolts which we manufacture also have a central hole, which is threaded to receive a bolt, screw, or other threaded part.

High Tensile Steel Wheel Bolts:
Wheel bolts and studs meet all standards found within SAE J1102. This SAE Standard covers the chemical, metallurgical and mechanical requirements for two types of passenger car and truck wheel bolts in inch sizes, as follows: (a) Non-serrated shank bolts which are heat treated and (b) Serrated shank bolts which are case hardened.

Technical aspect of wheel bolt explained -
Hex Size
Hex size or across flat is the size of the hexagonal top
on your wheel nuts or wheel bolts. This is important to know in order to know
which size of locking wheel bolt removal tool,
socket or spanner to be used for remove in event of changing the wheels. Also
the threads can be different and using wrong thread can cause serious damage
both to the wheel nuts or wheel bolts and to your bolt hub.
The most regular hex sizes for wheel bolt head sizes are 17mm,19mm and 21mm.
The most common thread types for vehicles include: M12x1.25, M12x1.5, M12x1.75, M14x1.5, M14x2 and 1/2UNF. Bhalla Fasteners is the leading manufacturer, supplier and exporter of wheel bolt, wheel nuts and wheel lug stud to USA, UK, Germany and Poland.
Wheel bolt pattern measurement-
Bolt patterns in 4- 6- and 8-lug can be measured by going from the center of a stud to the center of the stud directly across from it.
Measuring your bolt pattern isn’t difficult, but it is critically important to get it right when you are choosing new wheelsThread Length (Bolts Only)-Thread length is simply the length of the thread on your bolt. However longer
wheel bolts are required when wheel spacers are put so as these longer wheel
bolts are able to pass through the spacer but still provide the proper fit for
your wheel.
60 Degree / Taper / Cone
This is by far the most popular wheel nut or wheel bolt seating type for
aftermarket wheels. The easiest way to tell a 60 degree wheel nut or 60 degree wheel bolt is that if you hold
it up straight it’ll look like an ice cream cone – radius nuts and bolts will
be round like half a tennis ball, while nuts and bolts with flat seats should
look roughly like a top hat!
Radius Seat / Ball Seat / Round Seat
This is a popular seating type for OE (Original Equipment) or factory fitted
wheels, plus aftermarket wheels which are designed to work with your original
bolts or nuts. Popular vehicles which use radius wheel bolts and radius wheel nuts include: Volkswagen,
Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Skoda and Porsche.
Flat Seat
Flat seat wheel bolts and flat seat nuts are another popular seating type for OE wheels and aftermarket alloy wheels made to work with the original factory nuts. Popular vehicles that use flat seats include: Citroen, Peugeot, Toyota, Lexus and Land Rover
Tuner Wheel Nuts / Tuner Wheel Bolts
If there is not enough space in the bolt hole of a wheel to fit a standard sized wheel nut or wheel bolt then tuner nuts and tuner bolts also known as slimline nuts and bolts are used. While traditional nuts and bolts have a hexagonal top, tuner nuts and bolts most often feature a key which is inserted into them. Standard sockets and spanners are not be able to tighten or to remove a tuner nut or bolt.
